This week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded over $1 billion in opioid-specific grants to help combat the crisis ravaging our country. The awards support HHS’s Five-Point Opioid Strategy, which was launched last year and enhanced this week. SCHC was awarded grant funds from the Health Resources and Services Administration  (HRSA) for one-time improvements and ongoing support for additional staff. We plan to hire a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Community Health Worker who will work with patients and community members. These staff members will be a part of our integrated behavioral health model. We are proud to be a part of the national initiative to address the opioid crisis and other substance use disorders.
